I know what you mean about using 'limited cameras', what with all the possibilities that are now available - that's why I started using Polaroid film.

Sean, I am one of those enthusiasts. I'm a pro fashion photographer and have been struggling to keep up with all the latest and greatest gear when it comes to digital photography so I've decided to try against the odds and go with the "not-so-greatest". I figured if I can create amazing images with one of the most limited cameras it will make me feel good - and it does. It's such a fun challenge! There's only one lens, no exposure control, and limited focus control. All these attributes do give the image a certain feel. Phontography, as I call it (since there are phone cameras out there other than just the iPhone) has it's style due to the limitations.

Excellent post - I agree with you that Iphone photography is nothing other than camera-phone photography; nothing separate or apart. Although Lisa Wiseman has said that the Iphone ' imbues them [the images] with a unique chromatic aberration that says iPhone and nothing else' - so, while I also remain unconvinced, perhaps there is, hiding somewhere amongst groups iPhone enthusiasts, a case waiting to be made.
